Tuition fees and scholarships across Scandinavia in 2026

The cost of a Nordic degree varies more than most applicants realise. ## Where tuition is free Public universities in **Norway** and **Iceland** charge no tuition fees, including to students from outside the EU/EEA. You still budget for living costs and a small semester registration fee. ## Where tuition applies **Sweden**, **Denmark** and **Finland** charge annual tuition to non-EU/EEA students, typically between EUR 8,000 and EUR 18,000 per year for a taught master. Each country funds a large scholarship scheme — the Swedish Institute, Denmark’s government scholarships, and Finland’s university-specific awards. ## Living costs Plan for roughly EUR 900–1,200 a month depending on the city. Student housing is the biggest single factor, and waiting lists are long — apply for accommodation the day you are admitted.
